Biwa season...

Summer’s coming...and it’s Biwa season...what’s Biwa anyway???

It’s a kind of local fruit here in Japan...and according to Ochi san, Biwa season is during the summer. Take a look at the picture...

Biwa tree bearing fruits...

How big is it...hmm...about the size of Buah Duku or Langsat like that...there, take a look, but in the markets, they sell even bigger size than the size in the picture below...but very very expensive, about 500yen for 6 :(......anyway we can get it for free, just to taste some of Japanese local fruit by......
Notice the lorry at the far left of the picture...behind Choong...we stop by the road side on the way back to hatchery from cage to pluck Biwa growing wild along the road.

Owh by the way...we didn’t actually pluck, we used extended cutter to reach the fruits at the top of the tree. But to some extend...this is what Ochi san has to do...

They say those growing on the highest part of the tree are the sweetest...there you go, desperate for it’s sweetness, Ochi san have to climb the lamp post to reach for the fruits.

And it’s true, his effort was not wasted, and we do get to taste the sweet taste of the Biwa.

How it taste like...hmm...don’t know how to describe, but here’s what my members says, like mangosteen, to Ochi san, he say it taste like mango...to me...taste like orange, texture like mango, how’s that???
