Dinner with Ochi san and his family

Last night (Saturday night) Ochi san brought us for dinner......Indian food. It was a great evening, we enjoyed it a lot.

Ochi san, wife (Waekana san) and mother in law (can’t remembered her name) were open minded peoples...especially (mother in law)....will explain about it further...

The dining table was Japanese style type, low leg table and floor seating. Very weird for having Indian meal, but anyway that’s the Japanese culture. Then, on the table....of course there’s spoon and fork prepared, nothing surprising....but here’s the joke......Chopsticks!!! Yeah....chopsticks for Indian food.....I was laughing out loud by my self.......

Here’s what we had for dinner...Nan, 2 types 1 ordinary and another with cheese, Tandoori Chicken, Salad (looks like English style salad), Biryani rice, and curry. Here’s the interesting story for the curry...

Curry is served individually, so everyone has to pick their own order, there’s quite a variety of choices....can’t remember all, but here’s the most interesting part.....the curry level of spiciness can be selected from the range of 1 to 10.....can you imagine that??? You can select which level of spiciness according to which level you can stand.

The Japanese can’t really take spicy food, I only remembered Ochi san order for level 4, his wife and mother in law somewhere there. Guess what level did I ordered? 10....yeah 10 and the spiciness didn’t come close to my mom’s sambal, it barely scratch my tongue.....lol

Now here comes the part where I said Ochi san mother in law is very open minded....out of curiosity she tried those curry that was the spiciest...she went round the table trying out each and everyone of our curry......we were all surprise, cause what we learned in Japanese Culture Class prior to Japan Industrial Training, that Japanese don’t share their food....Hey, this was great you know...we didn’t feel tense as if we had to follow the Japanese culture during dining.

The other best part during dinner was the way we had our Nan.....I thought Ochi san and his family will eat their Nan with spoon and fork, couldn’t be chopsticks would it??? But they had it with hands.....Yeah!!! Another warm feeling, put a way the way we sit and dine and the chopsticks, it is as if we were really in Malaysia.....Dinner was really fun......And the best part was......I share the same birthday with Ochi san......31st of August......yeah!!!

Here’s the picture after our dinner....

Malaysia product......

Hey hey...you know in Japan...most of their product are made in China......almost everything you find in store are made in China.

But here’s one of Malaysian product I’m very proud of.......yeah there are some Made in Malaysia product you can find in Japan but not as much as those made in China....here are some of Malaysia made product I found, Sony Mp4 (lol...tried it many times, but don’t have English language version, all in Japanese), Victor Video cam (this can change the language to English), I guess that’s the most I can recall...but this brands are not Malaysia original brands...there are only made in Malaysia but overseas brand...

Here’s the one and only Malaysia original product........3.......2.......1........tadaa.......the arowana....yes, arowana or kelisa in malay, originate from Malaysia.....yea, they do have cousin in America, Australia, and some parts of South East Asia, especially Indonesia......but Malaysian Arowana are one of the best.....

Hey...just yesterday I went to the pet shop, and saw a red tail arowana, then I saw the price tagging at 198,000 yen (about RM6,000 for that 30cm fish)...then just beside the price tag, is a small photocopy of the arowana’s certificate......I glanced thru the certificate, and at the end of the certificate, stated there the fish came from Malaysia and was bred by Xian Leng...arghhh forgot the full name of the fish farm, but Xian Leng is a popular fish farm from Johor, if I’m not mistaken.......damn so proud, I almost wanna disturb the sales assistant, about the fish.....but didn’t coz afraid I will be caught inside a deep level of Japanese conversation.......anyway this always happen....then I will go like this.....arr, I’m a Malaysian, can you speak English, coz I only understand a little Japanese.....hey....their Japanese accent if different from what I learn, they use plain Japanese, while I learn the more formal speech....anyway sometime I will just go blank....

Back to the arowana...hey, I ask one of the staff here, they say arowana is popular in Japan, and he himself like arowana, and would like to culture it...hmm.....I wonder, the Japanese are so proud of their Koi (but Koi doesn’t originate from Japan), then we Malaysian should be proud of our very own Arowana....

A boring holiday...

Arr...today is my holiday and it’s Sunday....and it’s yeee.....boring!!!

Didn’t do much today, nothing went to plan...though we (boys) plan to follow staff to cage and go fishing, but only me went alone, accompanied by the girls....the girls were excited not because we went fishing, but excited because they finally got the chance to go to cage......lol, they were also very happy, because they got the chance to do some feeding as well.....anyway girls usually are not allowed to go to cage...don’t know why, maybe the work is tough, or maybe something else.

And after fishing...not a single fish at all...nope, that’s not what makes me boring, it’s the weather that makes me boring...because it’s a rainy day...yeah, it is raining till now (10:21pm) when I’m typing this post.

Earlier I thought today was a fine weather, not sunny and hot, just cloudy and cooling, but it started to rain when I’m on my way home after fishing...I plan to go exploring and sightseeing after fishing.....but...just stayed at home all day.....

Gee...why would it rain on the day when I have more time exploring Japan??? I think it’s the second time it rains on the day I’m having my holiday...:(

Anyway...maybe it’s a sign for me to rest more I guess, my left palm is numb, it’s been like this for about a week I guess, I don’t know what’s the cause of it, if cold is the cause, why only my left palm, but not both my palm...very very weird...

I guess this will be it for this post, gonna type a few emails, and then maybe hop of to bed, no point for me to wait for the rain to stop, maybe by the time it stop, it’s too late to go out exploring......lol....talk soon

Sushi.....

Yesterday the company’s president (Mr. Yoshikawa) brought us for Sushi with his family...I guess the sushi restaurant is a popular one, coz it was full house when we arrive there...

We have to wait in line till our turn...

There from left is Michiko san (Mr. Yoshikawa’s daughter in law), Fukumi san and Tomomi san (both Mr. Yoshikawa’s daughter)......and me and Choong. It’s like waiting in line to visit the doctor.....
That’s me and Yong having a glass of beer.....Sushi was delicious....and damn expensive too, I think the cheapest plate of sushi cost 100 yen and the most expensive cost about 600 yen...

The guy behind Yong is Lee san, Tomomi’s husband (a Korean) and can only speak Japanese with us....sometimes don’t even understand what he says.......hahaha

And there’s Mr Yoshikawa having a photo session with us...

That’s Okaasan (Mother), Mr Yoshikawa’s wife...we call her Okaasan because that’s what they call her......hahaha

Well, dinner was great, fun...food was delicious, and we ate so full till the throat

Biwa season...

Summer’s coming...and it’s Biwa season...what’s Biwa anyway???

It’s a kind of local fruit here in Japan...and according to Ochi san, Biwa season is during the summer. Take a look at the picture...

Biwa tree bearing fruits...

How big is it...hmm...about the size of Buah Duku or Langsat like that...there, take a look, but in the markets, they sell even bigger size than the size in the picture below...but very very expensive, about 500yen for 6 :(......anyway we can get it for free, just to taste some of Japanese local fruit by......
Notice the lorry at the far left of the picture...behind Choong...we stop by the road side on the way back to hatchery from cage to pluck Biwa growing wild along the road.

Owh by the way...we didn’t actually pluck, we used extended cutter to reach the fruits at the top of the tree. But to some extend...this is what Ochi san has to do...

They say those growing on the highest part of the tree are the sweetest...there you go, desperate for it’s sweetness, Ochi san have to climb the lamp post to reach for the fruits.

And it’s true, his effort was not wasted, and we do get to taste the sweet taste of the Biwa.

How it taste like...hmm...don’t know how to describe, but here’s what my members says, like mangosteen, to Ochi san, he say it taste like mango...to me...taste like orange, texture like mango, how’s that???

Ah ha...some of my picture in cage...and more back aches

In the last post, I only post up the cage structure picture...here’s how we stand on the cage here...
At the beginning of my training here, I never expected to see this kind of cage structure, and yes, starting was a little tough for me to walk on the cages, but now I can almost run on the cage.....lol

Hey the value of this cage is high I guess, it is iron frame type cage with a total weight of 2 tonne, and according to Ochi san, 1 tonne cost about 400000yen if I’m not mistaken.
Yeap...for the past 3 days doing float cleaning and changing...here’s how an exhausted bum rest...lol
And yes...some sweets do help to relax....hehehe

But then again.....more back aches...haha
